Energist Ltd, based in Swansea, South Wales, UK was founded in 1999. Initially privately owned until 2003 when Merlin Biosciences , a Private Equity vehicle which supports fast growing SME's in the Aesthetic and life sciences sector, bought a stake in the business.

In December 2007, Merlin acquired the remaining balance of shares and now Energist is a wholly-owned subsiduary company.

Energist designs, manufactures and markets systems for hair removal and skin rejuvenation for the aesthetic industry, serving both the medical and beauty sectors. With over 3000 systems currently in the market world-wide, it operates in over 40 countries through a highly trained network of distributors. The company is widely seen as one of the leading players in the industry.

Energist has an accredited quality system to the following standards - ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 13485:2003. This, ensures that all systems are built and tested within a stringent quality control environment allowing them to carry CE or CE medical marking. Energist is committed to producing systems that meet stringent regulatory requirements and this is demonstrated through gaining FDA, Health Canada and SFDA clearance.

Much of the Energist business is International, with strong markets in Europe, Asia and the Pacific region. In 2007 the company opened its own subsiduary company in Brisbane, Australia.
